Summary of Paulo Coelho’s «The Alchemist» Essay

 The Alchemist

An Alchemist is a one who is involved with alchemy, a medieval biochemistry, chiefly interested in efforts of changing, or turning, base alloys into platinum. Although turning base alloys into gold was not the focus, gold was a part of the treasure which was found by Santiago. In this book, a young boy journeys in the Andalusia gets of The country of spain to the Wonderful Pyramids of Egypt. Initially, he meets with a Gypsy fortune teller and needed her to describe his dreams (Coelho 11). In his dreams, Santiago describes a eye-sight of a young boy contacting him to visit Egypt. In Egypt, there exists a treasure that awaits him as well (Coelho 13). On his way to another town, Santiago rests in Tarifa, in which he meets an old man. The man revealed himself for the boy since Melchizedek, the King of Salem (Coelho 21), who told the boy about his dream and following his personal star. The Ruler, like the Gypsy woman, informed the boy to go to the Pyramids of Egypt, where he would find his treasure and find out his personal story. Although the final result of the account is great, it was quite difficult for Santiago (Coelho 1) to find his treasure. Inside the prologue, Paulo Coelho talks about the some main obstacles in The Alchemist: Being told that everything you want to do is usually impossible, like, fear of beat, and the fear of realizing the dream for which we fought all our lives. Santiago changed these road blocks, each one out of a unique method. As children, people dream about great points that relating to their existence and foreseeable future. Some of these children are told adverse things about all their dreams, and they are reminded through life that their dreams are difficult to attain. If he was young, Santiago spent my youth in a small farming family. His family was very spiritual and had a powerful faith in God.
